Ace Assemblies (World’s Greatest Magic) Vol. 2 by L&L Publishing

Imagine possessing the most extensive magic book ever created. This would undoubtedly be a prized asset for any magician, with each chapter dedicated to a specific aspect of the craft and showcasing the finest routines available. This concept is embodied in L&L Publishing’s renowned DVD series, The World’s Greatest Magic, featuring the expertise of the world’s leading magicians. Each volume serves as a new chapter in this ultimate magic compendium, offering detailed insights and instructions on some of the most beloved and classic effects, making it an invaluable resource for anyone passionate about the magical arts, regardless of their experience level.

ACE ASSEMBLIES

The classic Ace Assembly trick, where four Aces are dealt face down with three indifferent cards on each, yet mysteriously gather into one packet, is often credited to the French magician Conus. Since its debut in 1853, this timeless effect has inspired countless variations, captivating audiences to this day.

VOLUME 2

This DVD introduces five magicians, each presenting their unique interpretation of the Ace Assembly plot. Bill Malone kicks things off with an incredibly clean Ace assembly that almost appears to utilize trick cards. Steve Draun follows with a visually stunning conclusion to Marlo’s Bluff assembly, while Trevor Lewis surprises with a last-minute switch of the Aces’ final destination in a straightforward routine. John Guastaferro showcases a version where the Aces assemble within the card case, and Martin Nash’s Aces do so under a spectator’s hand. Bill Malone returns with a technically demanding yet visually striking routine where the Aces dramatically appear in the leader packet.

As noted by Hugard and Braue in their classic work, Expert Card Technique, “Of all the tricks with playing cards, as much thought has been expended on the Four Ace trick as on any other—and the performers ‘and performances’ you’ll watch and learn from on this DVD are ample evidence why.”
