“The Dream” is an engaging routine designed for intimate gatherings or spontaneous performances. Its core principles offer significant value, making it applicable in various presentations.

This concept originated from an older card routine by Stewart Judah. While it may seem like a traditional card trick, it transcends that classification. The routine involves a level of dealing and counting that has fallen out of favor recently. However, Bob discovered that presenting it as a card game could enhance its appeal. Although this approach is natural and deceptive, it still felt too much like a card trick for a mentalism context, leading Bob to set the idea aside for two decades.

Recently, Bob revisited the concept while developing a “dream” presentation. He aimed to create a prediction routine that addressed the common flaw in “Confabulation” and “Swami” effects, where the performer fills in details on a pre-written prediction that remains in their possession until after the audience’s final choice.

Many performers, including Bob, recognized that this issue could be resolved by forcing the last item, allowing the envelope to be placed on the table before the audience makes their final selections. The challenge then became identifying an effective forcing method, which led Bob back to the Judah concept.

As he refined the routine, Bob devised a unique approach to the secret writing phase and an innovative method for loading an envelope that remains visible throughout the performance.
