Contents & Effects
The Beast with Five Fingers: A fresh take on the classic Vernon Triumph effect, originally featured in Stars of Magic.
Carter’s Fooler: A tribute to the late Arthur Carter, this effect, which first appeared in his Magigram column, has been slightly modified to enhance its deceptive nature, making it even more challenging for magicians to reconstruct. It works exceptionally well for lay audiences.
Rope!: Inspired by Trevor Hall’s “Reading Is Believing,” this routine combines a cut-and-restored rope effect with ‘The Panama Rope Trick.’ At the conclusion, four pieces of rope appear tied together with three knots, which are actually small pieces tied around a longer rope. The knots are trimmed until they fall off, allowing the remaining rope to be pulled taut, causing the knots to fly away.
It Is Written: A unique blend of a book test and a diary prediction.
Caprice: An enhanced version of ‘The Extractors’ from my 1984 book “Close-up to the Point,” this effect merges elements from Carlyle’s “Homing Card” and Vernon’s “Travellers.”
The Gathering: A streamlined handling of ‘Collector’s Item’ from “Close-Up to the Point” (1984), this classic Roy Walton effect, “The Collectors,” is performed without any sleights.
Two Packs but with a Single Thought: Inspired by Hofzinser’s “Domination of Thought,” this effect has been adapted by George Armstrong and Eddie Joseph, each presenting it under their own titles.
The Con Artist: A two-stage effect utilizing the Bottom Deal, with the second stage inspired by Neil Smith’s idea.
Divisory Capacity: Two selected cards are revealed in an unexpectedly fair manner.
The 5 Point 5 Trick: A playful twist on the classic gag ‘The 31/2 of Clubs’ (why always Clubs?).
Alternative Update: Building on my earlier effect “Change of Departure” from Alternative Card Magic, this version offers a more logical approach while retaining the Roy Walton two Ace suggestion from the original.
As Easy as 1-2-3: A straightforward and effective rendition of the classic ‘lone-ahead’ triple prediction, suitable for both close-up and stage performances.
