Howard Adams, renowned for his book 666 Mentalism, has made significant contributions to self-working magic and mentalism over the years. His unique mentalism effects have been featured in publications like Genii and through Karl Fulves. In 666 Mentalism, he provides a workshop of ideas that require your personal touch to bring them to life.

More than 30 years ago, Howard introduced a self-published lecture series consisting of manuscripts titled OICUFESP. This collection includes 10 volumes, each containing around 20 pages. We are excited to announce that we have secured the reprint rights to these previously out-of-print manuscripts. Now, in a comprehensive 200+ page volume, you can explore these historic routines that encompass mentalism, psychic entertainment, and mental magic—all designed to be performed without sleights!

History of OICUFESP and MINDESPA

Both OICUFESP and MINDESPA feature original effects, distinct from any columns or other publications. These works were created to provide Howard Adams with material for his lectures primarily in Hollywood, California, during the 70s and 80s. His friend Bob Wagner, who has since passed away, also utilized Howard’s material for his own lectures, even bringing it to Japan. Only 200 copies exist for each of the 10 volumes of OICUFESP. Howard had plans for another series called OGICUFESP, but time did not permit its completion.

Howard’s column in Genii Magazine ran for 27 issues (2+7=9), a nod to his lucky number. The MINDESPA series consisted of 12 issues, with only 100 copies of each self-printed for his lectures.

Born in 1931 in Buffalo, New York, Howard began his magic journey at age 12. He responded to an ad by Burling Hall in Conjurers Magazine, offering to condense all published card effects into multiple volumes. Although he condensed around 60 effects, the project was halted for unknown reasons. Howard spent his Saturdays at Gene Gordon’s Magic Shop and afternoons watching serials at local theaters, which later inspired him to write the 12 volumes of MINDESPA.

His effects have been featured in numerous magazines, including Genii, Conjurers, Pentagram, and Hugard’s Magic Monthly. Now retired, Howard and his wife reside in Laguna Niguel, California, near the Pacific Ocean. He is currently reviewing his extensive notes and continues to write new series, including 888 Mentalism, 999 Mentalism, and 101010 Mentalism, along with their sequels: More 666 Mentalism, More 888 Mentalism, More 999 Mentalism, and More 101010 Mentalism.
