Before moving to Hawaii, Curtis Kam was recognized on the mainland as a lecturer, author, and a prominent contributor to magazines like Apocalypse and Harry Lorayne’s Best of Friends. In Hawaii, he took on the role of resident magician at Waikiki’s Hale Koa Hotel, where he refined and tested the cutting-edge close-up magic featured in this book.

The Routines Include:

Twisted Trio: A captivating multi-phase coin routine inspired by Gary Kurtz’s classic ‘Trio.’ This routine highlights ‘The Twist,’ a groundbreaking coin technique that allows for seamless production, switching, and transformation of coins with a simple twist of the fingertips.

Kamnibal Cards: A staple of Curtis Kam’s performances, this routine gives the ‘Cannibal Cards’ a satisfying conclusion, with the Missionaries returning and the Cannibals disappearing, leaving the audience thrilled and amazed.

Greensleeves: Experience the magic as four cards vanish from your fingertips and reappear in various locations on your body, showcasing a modern take on the classic Cards up the Sleeves effect.

A Girl’s Best Friend: The first in-depth exploration of the ‘Jumping Gems’ in years, addressing the question: “What exactly are those?”

Also included are routines such as Ring, Ring & Rope, Shrink a Card, Coercive Purse, Framed Wild Pocket, Chink-A-Chink, Coffee and Dough, and many more audience-tested close-up performances.

Complete Contents List:

Introduction (by Jerry Mentzer): Insights into Curtis Kam and the book.

Chapter One – Professional Coin Routines

Twisted Trio: Experience the magic as three coins appear from nowhere, travel between hands, and vanish one by one. This routine features the “Twist Production” and “Twist Shuttle Pass,” utilizing four coins.

Framed Wild Pocket: A captivating “Wild Coin” routine where three Silver Dollars are produced from a coin frame. A small Chinese coin transforms each silver coin into a large Chinese coin, culminating in one coin shrinking. Ideal for restaurant settings, as it requires minimal table space and resets seamlessly.

Coercive Purse: Watch as an English Penny appears from a purse frame, followed by a Half Dollar. The Penny vanishes into the purse, transposing with the Half Dollar, which is then revealed. This routine features a humorous twist when the Penny gets stuck due to a jumbo coin transformation.

The Flying Shuttle Pass: A routine from Kam’s 1993 lecture notes.

Chink-A-Chink: Four coins arranged in a diamond pattern magically assemble into one location, utilizing five coins.

Copper/Silver Flurry: A spectator holds a Chinese coin while the magician performs a flurry with a Silver Dollar, which suddenly transforms into the Chinese coin, leaving the spectator holding the Silver Dollar. This routine requires two dollar coins and one Chinese coin.

Hopping Half: A unique take on the “hopping half” routine using a Copper/Silver coin instead of the traditional set.

Chapter Two – Professional Card Routines

Kannibal Cards: A delightful twist on the Cannibal Cards, featuring a happy ending without any gaffs.

Shrink a Card: Watch as a deck shrinks, revealing a small card that turns out to be the spectator’s original selection, which they can keep. This routine uses a standard deck and one mini-card.

Move to the Front of the Glass: A selected card penetrates the deck in a glass, first appearing faded, then fully visible as the signed card penetrates.

About Face!: The selected card ends up on the magician’s forehead, despite the deck being handled behind their back.

Hard Boiled Detective: A story-driven effect utilizing a stacked deck.

Greensleeves: A modern interpretation of the Four Cards to Pocket routine, with cards appearing in various locations.

Chapter Three: Professional Close-Up Routines

A Girl’s Best Friend: This routine features two Jumping Gem rods cleverly disguised as earrings.

Ring, Ring, & Rope: A captivating ring and rope routine using the magician’s finger ring.

The Twenty-One Cent Murder Mystery: A fresh take on the popular 21 Cent coin trick.

Table Hopper’s Salt Trick: A quick and engaging salt production routine.

The Las Vegas Dream Routine: In this prediction effect, the spectator completes a dream that leads to an astonishing coincidence.

Coffee and Dough: A unique cup and ball routine featuring a torn dollar bill and a coffee cup, culminating in the restoration of the bill and a surprising final load.
