Magicians and mentalists can incorporate this pseudo-hypnotic effect into their performances. It’s not essential for the participant to be genuinely hypnotized, but true hypnosis enhances the astonishment for the subject!

The performer presents four opaque envelopes, claiming each contains a different colored card. These envelopes are given to a participant on stage who remains hypnotized with their eyes open. The hypnotist instructs the participant to shuffle the envelopes, ensuring no one knows the colors inside.

When the hypnotist counts to three, the participant is said to gain real x-ray vision, enabling them to see through the opaque envelopes and reveal the colors within. Remarkably, the hypnotized subject perceives the colors while under hypnosis!

The hypnotist receives an envelope from the participant, who names the color inside. The hypnotist writes this color on the envelope, clearly visible to the audience. This process is repeated with two more envelopes, with the hypnotist documenting the colors in full view.

With one envelope remaining, the hypnotist prompts the participant to identify the color inside using their x-ray vision. Without touching the envelope, the hypnotist instructs the participant to open it and reveal the card. To the astonishment of both the participant and the audience, the card matches the color they just named!

Each envelope is returned to the participant, who opens it to find the card consistently matches the color written on the envelope. Even while hypnotized, the participant is amazed by their accuracy, and the audience erupts in applause at the seemingly impossible feat. This can be performed with volunteers seated behind the performer, ensuring no exposure. The hypnotist engages the audience, asking if they believe the participant truly possesses x-ray vision, leading to nods of agreement. Then, the fun escalates as the hypnotist claims to grant all volunteers on stage x-ray vision, allowing them to see through the clothing of the audience.

Hilarity ensues as audience members react, with some covering themselves and others ducking down, convinced the participants can genuinely see through their clothes. This is one of the funniest segments you can include in a hypnotic show.
