The Gen magazine, launched by Harry Stanley shortly after WWII, debuted in December 1945. Over its 26-year run, it produced 303 issues encompassing 8,685 pages. Renowned British magical author Lewis Ganson served as editor until 1971, when The Gen transitioned to Val Andrews for two additional issues as the New Gen.

This publication featured contributions from nearly every prominent figure in post-war magic. Notably, Ken Brooke contributed 27 pieces, while the final issue showcased talents like Al Koran with his Miracle Pack, and Maurice Fogel with his Headline Hunter. Other contributors included Juan Tamariz, Hen Fetsch, Hugh Miller, and Jerry Mentzer.

Harry Stanley not only launched the magazine with notable names but also elevated the magic scene in the UK by promoting and discovering global talents. He published their works, showcased their tricks at the Unique Magic Studio, and hosted lectures, introducing audiences to legends like Slydini, Fred Kaps, and Dai Vernon. From Ed Marlo to Chan Canasta and Hans Trixer, every significant magician found a place in The Gen.

This collection boasts nearly 9,000 pages along with a comprehensive 161-page index compiled by Michael Colley.
