The performer presents two cards from a deck, labeling one “Truth” and the other “Lie.” These cards facilitate a psychological lie detection experiment. With the cards face down, spectators make statements about themselves, which can be true or false, such as “I live at house number 42” or “I have a cat.” After a statement is made, the performer chooses one card, and the spectator reveals whether it was the truth or a lie, with the performer always being correct. This skill lies within everyone; it’s simply a matter of tapping into it. A second spectator then guesses if the first was truthful, and they too are correct! To elevate the challenge, the performer introduces the remaining cards, allowing the spectator to randomly select one to remember while four others are dealt and mixed. The spectator lays out the five cards face up, touching each one while stating, “This is my card.” The performer must then deduce the true card, showcasing exceptional lie detection abilities!
LOKI
The performer presents three differently colored poker chips. While the performer is blindfolded or turned away, a spectator places each chip in a separate pocket. Upon turning back, the performer reveals the location of each chip by seemingly reading body language cues.
TURNOVER 23
This is an innovative take on the Mexican Turnover. A prediction card from a different deck is placed on the table, and a spectator names a card. An indifferent card is then used to flip the prediction, revealing a perfect match!
SYLLACODE
The magician invites an assistant to help with this effect, where the assistant is blindfolded or positioned back to back with the spectator. The spectator silently selects one of five standard Zenner symbols, and the assistant attempts to divine the choice. After the spectator points to a symbol, the assistant accurately reveals the selected symbol, such as the star!
MORSE
This effect is a spectator-driven mind-reading demonstration based on the Syllacode concept.
SYN
Two coins are borrowed or retrieved from the performer’s pocket. The coins are displayed fairly, and one is held in the spectator’s closed fist with their arm extended palm down. The other coin is waved over their hand, creating the illusion that it is bending and melting upwards. The spectator feels this sensation in their hand as well. With a final wave, one side of the coin curls inward, and when the spectator opens their hand, their coin has transformed in the same way.
MIRROR
A boxed deck is placed on the table as a prediction. Another deck is introduced for the demonstration, using only half of it. The spectator is invited to shuffle this half as they wish. While they shuffle, the performer explains that by observing a participant’s nature, one can predict how they will shuffle the cards, with the prediction deck serving as proof. Once shuffling is complete, the cards are taken back…
