Transform Any Silk with The Silk Effect

At any moment during your performance, you can take a regular silk of your choice and make it appear to pass through your hands or the hands of a spectator. This effect allows you to showcase both sides of the hand, and you can perform it as quickly or slowly as you wish. After the reveal, you can display the silk and your hands for examination, ensuring everything is clean. This versatile silk can also be utilized for various other effects.

Whether you’re performing up close, in a parlor, or on stage, this effect is a crowd-pleaser. It’s particularly effective in children’s and comedy magic, but it can also be adapted for darker themes or hypnosis presentations.

Everything you need is included: a video detailing the history and origins of the trick within magic literature, handling ideas, presentation tips, a sample silk, gimmick, and accessories. You can use any silk size, from 12 inches (30 cm) to diamond-cut silks, even up to 40 inches (90 cm), or materials like ribbons and wool.

  • Perform anywhere, with no restrictions.
  • Adaptable to any silk or presentation style.
  • Start and end with a clean slate.
  • Utilize the silk for additional effects.
  • Ideal for parlor and stage performances.
  • No clothing limitations.

ORIGINS

Gonzalo Albiñana has dedicated the last fifteen years to developing and refining this effect. Seven years ago, he began showcasing it to fellow magicians, earning the Geni D’Or Award for Creativity. In 2019, he won the Parlor Magic Trophy at the National Congress of Spain. Now, he is excited to share this creation with the magic community, eager to see how others will interpret it.

Inspired by the works of Al Bach, Alexander de Cova, and many classic magicians, The Silk embodies Gonzalo’s vision of magic: a clear, simple plot that is visually stunning and engaging, offering ample opportunity for performers to infuse their personality and style.

The concept originated when a child, during a silk vanishing routine, mentioned something about a plastic finger, prompting Gonzalo to explore new ideas. After numerous trials, effects, and prototypes, combining influences like the Arrow and Ribbon thru Body by Chung Ling Soo and The Silk thru the spots card by Alexander de Cova, this effect gradually took shape and has since become a highlight in Gonzalo’s performances.
