After seven years of meticulous crafting, J.K. Hartman presents his latest anthology of card magic, featuring over 90 tricks, routines, and sleights across 400 pages and 600 illustrations!
Since 1969, Hartman has been a pivotal figure in card magic, producing three major works: Card Craft, After Craft, and Trickery Treats. His latest release, CARD DUPERY, showcases more than ninety innovative card tricks, routines, and sleights. This compilation retains the signature Hartman style, delivering astonishing effects through straightforward methods, clever techniques, and moves accessible to intermediate card magicians. The insights and sleights within these pages are designed to inspire readers to create their own unique magic. The book’s substantial weight reflects not only its physicality but also the depth of thought and entertainment contained within, all thoroughly explained with the help of over 600 illustrations by renowned magic artist J.K. Schmidt.
Within these pages, you will discover captivating effects such as:
- A participant separates a mixed deck into black and red cards while blindfolded. Upon revealing the piles, they appear to be a chaotic mix. However, the performer unveils that the cards were taken from two decks, and the participant has perfectly sorted them by their distinct back designs!
- Two spectators each think of a card as the performer shuffles the deck behind his back. One spectator silently spells out their card’s name, slapping their hand down on the card dealt as the last letter is spoken. When revealed, it is indeed their chosen card! The second spectator then inserts a cocktail sword into the deck, only to find it precisely where their thought-of card resides!
- After shuffling and cutting the deck, both the performer and a spectator select a card. The performer shows his choice to another spectator for fairness. They deal cards alternately, and when the spectator reveals their thought-of card, the performer names his card, which is revealed to be the one dealt just before the spectator’s!
- The performer displays a face-up deck that seems to be in random order. With a simple gesture, he spreads the deck on the table, revealing that all black cards have separated from the reds!
These examples are just a glimpse of the extraordinary wonders waiting for you in CARD DUPERY, ready to enchant both you and your audience.
