Discover the Legacy of Club 71

Club 71 magazine was published from 1970 to 2007, with a hiatus between 1978 and 1984. Founded by Geoff Maltby, the owner of Repro Magic (UK), the magazine initially focused on reproducing hard-to-find magic posters. For the majority of its run, Walt Lees served as the editor. In its later years, it rebranded as The Magician. Over its lifetime, the magazine produced 193 issues, totaling nearly 14,000 pages, along with a parody of Abracadabra magazine.

Due to its irregular publication schedule, name changes, and a five-year pause, finding a complete collection has proven challenging. This digital version has been compiled from three different partial collections, making it a hidden gem for magic enthusiasts. Notable contributors include Barrie Richardson, Max Maven (Phil Goldstein), Peter Duffie, and Patrick Page, with Richardson featured in nearly every issue. Other regular contributors include Simon Lovell, Angelo Carbone, Al Smith, Ian Rowland, Ian Adair, Walt Lees, Eddie Daws, Werner Miller, Ian Keable, Peter Kane, Paul Hallas, Stephen Tucker, JJ, Bob Ostin, Ali Bongo, Ali Cardabra, and many others.

The magazine covers a wide range of topics, including mentalism, card magic, children’s magic, and close-up performances. It not only presents effects but also delves into the business aspects of magic, featuring thought-provoking articles designed to enhance your skills.

Club 71 is especially renowned for its focus on children’s magic, offering valuable insights on effective performance techniques and business growth strategies.
