Fechter’s Finger Flicking Frolic by Daryl
Fechter’s Finger Flicking Frolic (FFFF) is renowned as the “Original Close-Up Magic Convention,” representing the pinnacle of close-up magic gatherings globally. Since its inception in 1971, this prestigious event has been exclusively by invitation.
Commonly known as the 4F convention, it was founded in April 1971 at the iconic Forks Hotel in Buffalo, New York, by Eddie Fechter, Bill Okal, and “Obie” O’Brien. Their vision was to create a convention solely focused on the art of close-up magic.
Starting in 1977, each convention has honored a distinguished “Guest of Honor” to recognize their significant contributions to the field of close-up magic.
In tribute to Lou Gallo, the coveted Most Valuable Person award is named the “Lou Gallo MVP Award.” This accolade, determined by attendee votes, is presented annually to the individual deemed to have made the most impactful contributions to the convention’s success.
The 39th Annual FFFF Convention took place from April 22-25, 2009, in Batavia, New York, featuring Henry Evans as the Guest of Honor.
The 40th Annual FFFF Convention was held from April 21-24, 2010, also in Batavia, New York, with Obie O’Brien serving as the Guest of Honor.
