Foresight by Devin Knight

A captivating effect that begins with humor but delivers a powerful surprise.

Effect: The magician presents an envelope, claiming it holds a prediction. A spectator is invited to name any playing card, and the performer asserts that this card is in the envelope. Upon opening it, he reveals an 8.5 x 11 inch image displaying a spread of the entire deck. The audience chuckles, but their interest wanes. The magician then asks the first participant to simply think of a card from the image, without any forcing. Next, a second participant is invited to do the same. Here comes the astonishing moment: the magician accurately names the card thought of by the first participant, providing two insightful comments about it—both correct. This is achieved without any complicated fishing techniques, and the speed of revelation will astonish even seasoned magicians!

The magician then reveals a CLEAR cardholder worn around his neck from the beginning, showcasing the back of a playing card inside. He inquires about the card the second participant is thinking of, and upon naming it, he turns the clear cardholder around to reveal the exact card, visible at all times and never out of the audience’s sight. The card can be removed and the holder examined, ensuring no other items are present. For those who prefer not to wear the cardholder, a jumbo card can be placed on the table in full view from the start.

This effect elevates the revelation of thought-of cards to new heights, utilizing one of the most advanced yet easy-to-execute techniques, requiring no sleight of hand. The package includes an envelope, a durable plastic gag picture resembling a spilled deck (with no duplicate cards), and a smaller image for street magicians to carry. It also comes with a high-quality clear cardholder and a cloth lanyard.

Devin Knight’s Foresight is a straightforward mental routine that, with the right presentation, becomes a ‘killer’ effect!” – Tom Craven
