Who Is He?
Penn & Teller describe Jamy Ian Swiss as “James Bond with a deck of cards for a pistol!” He has performed internationally for audiences ranging from Fortune 500 companies to the Smithsonian Institution. His television appearances include CBS “48 Hours,” PBS “Nova,” “The Today Show,” and multiple features on “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”
Renowned for his close-up magic, Swiss has showcased his mind-reading and mentalism stage show, “Heavy Mental,” to thousands across the U.S. He has spoken on creativity, risk management, and user experience for various companies, including Adobe and Electronic Arts, and serves as an on-stage host for numerous business conferences.
For 18 years, Swiss was the book reviewer for “Genii” magazine and authored several works, including “The Art of Magic,” companion to the PBS documentary, and collections of essays like “Devious Standards.” He has produced and written for television, including Penn & Teller’s “Sin City Spectacular,” and co-produces New York’s longest-running Off-Broadway magic show, “Monday Night Magic.”
A regular performer at the Magic Castle since 1987, Swiss has lectured to magicians in over 30 states and 13 countries. A dedicated skeptic and pro-science advocate, he co-founded the National Capital Area Skeptics and the New York City Skeptics, and has served as a Fellow of the James Randi Educational Foundation. He is also a co-producer and host of the annual New England Conference on Science and Skepticism in New York City.
