Selection: This is the trick that amazed Penn Jillette on “Fool Us.” A fully customizable magic effect suitable for both children and adults, whether performed virtually or live! An audience member helps divide a stack of cards or photos into two piles. The twist? They make a completely free choice, and it’s revealed that the magician predicted their selection in advance. I’ll share handling tips and the basics of creating the necessary gimmicks.

Callback Invisible Deck: Start your show with a clever reference or joke. Later, perform a classic invisible deck routine with a twist: the chosen card features a message that connects back to your earlier joke. Not only is their card facing the opposite direction, but it’s the only one with that specific message. Fully customizable!

Chocolate Appearance and Disappearance: With the help of audience members, you’ll make a small object appear using a handkerchief. This could be anything from a chocolate to a ring or a quarter!

Foreshadowed Mysterious Envelope Prediction: The magician asks an audience member to think of an object. After a humorous attempt to read their mind, it’s revealed that the magician had predicted their thought all along, with a photo of the item hidden in an envelope throughout the show. This creates a stunning climax for both virtual and live performances!

The Personalized Message Switch: Easily personalize any show! The magician reveals a piece of paper with “front” and “back” written on each side. After a few folds, a magical personalized message appears. Setup takes less than three minutes, making it perfect for all ages. Two versions will be taught: one for virtual/close-up and another for stage/parlor.

Who Is She?

Katrina Kroetch, known as Magical Katrina, has showcased her whimsical magic across the globe, from Africa to Europe and beyond. As a dedicated volunteer with Magicians Without Borders and the Emergency Circus, she brings joy through her craft. A cast member of the international touring show Champions of Magic, Katrina has appeared on numerous television programs, including Masters of Illusion and Penn and Teller: Fool Us. She has also performed at the Magic Castle and was featured in the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal for her innovative virtual magic shows.

Awarded four magic accolades, including first place at AbraCORNdabara’s virtual contest in May 2020, Katrina was named the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians’ Children’s Entertainer of the Year for 2020. Despite the evolving landscape of entertainment, she continues to captivate audiences with her interactive virtual magic performances.
