The Real Thing by Atlas Brookings

This routine first gained attention in the Psycrets publication ‘Liber Mentis’, generating excitement among performers. It provides a unique approach to executing both a lie detector effect and a remarkably straightforward mind reading, without relying on conventional methods. Initially exclusive to Psycrets, the material has been significantly enhanced, now featuring an additional 22 pages of content. This expanded version introduces a fresh, impromptu method for mind reading and an innovative book test that stands out from the rest!

Picture this: a participant selects a word from a book, sets it aside, and then thinks of a completely different word—any word they desire. The performer then reveals this new word without any fishing or prompting! For the first time, this extended edition of ‘The Real Thing’ reveals how to achieve this and much more!

Now more accessible than ever, this text is packed with an impressive variety of impromptu routines. Whenever you’re called to demonstrate your mind-reading skills, all you need is a pen and paper. For instance, you can write unique sentences on five (or more) different pieces of paper, such as business cards, folding each one as you finish. The participant takes these cards, and while you turn away (or leave the room), they open one and read it.

Afterward, the Mentalist engages in a brief conversation with the spectator and accurately reveals the sentence they were thinking of. The papers remain with the participant throughout the entire process. No peeking, no confederates, and no tricks—just authentic psychological mentalism.

What do other mentalists say?

“Finally, a routine that truly delivers on its promise! Atlas has significantly expanded a fantastic concept. It feels like real mentalism because it IS real mentalism.” – Marc Paul, Entertainer and author of “The Fleetwood Notes”

“Page seven of your manuscript is worth whatever you charge for it.” – Dave Arch, Author of ‘Mind Game’

“I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Real Thing’… The core of the effect relies on pure psychology, which is exactly what you need. The clever use of this concept to create a compelling lie-detector routine is impressive.” – Derek Heron, Corporate Entertainer
