Michael Close: The Work – Palming Volume 1 (The Bottom Palm and The Gambler’s Cop)

In 1993, I authored a brief guide titled On Palming, featured in Workers 3. This chapter aimed to establish an effective teaching method for mastering the art of palming playing cards. It included techniques such as the Erdnase Bottom Palm, two methods for discreetly removing cards from the middle of the deck into the left hand, and the Vernon Topping the Deck palm. This content was also presented in the video The Power of Palming. Over the past 13 years, I have extensively explored the best practices for learning sleight of hand and how to effectively communicate these techniques. While many magic books explain how to perform tricks, few focus on how to learn them.
The culmination of my research and reflection is the new series, Michael Close: The Work. The first volume delves into the bottom palm and the Gambler’s Cop. Even if you’re new to palming, with dedicated study and practice, you can master these techniques.
