Atlas Brookings Train Tracking
Train Tracking by Atlas Brookings is undoubtedly among my top five mentalism releases of 2014, and it ranks high on that list.
This innovative method allows you to reveal a spectator’s chosen word without any writing involved. It’s as close to genuine mind reading as one can get.
The comprehensive 175-page hardback book details the ingenious method behind Train Tracking. However, mastering it requires significant practice; it’s not something you’ll perform immediately after reading. With dedication, you’ll possess a skill that few can replicate, making it a truly astonishing experience that can be executed anywhere, anytime, without props.
The book is organized into sections, referred to as tracks. Atlas shares the inspiration behind the concept and its evolution over the years. This is not a spur-of-the-moment idea; it has been meticulously developed. The initial examples are relatively easy to grasp and impressive in their own right. Each section should be thoroughly studied before progressing to the next.
As you advance, you’ll learn techniques to elicit the thought of a word through a series of seemingly innocuous questions. The early chapters are accessible, but the complexity increases as you delve deeper. After multiple readings, I’ve mastered the initial chapters but am still working on the final pieces of the method. I plan to start from the beginning again. Each section concludes with diagrams that visually clarify the processes. While they may appear complex at first, they become clearer with study and are genuinely helpful. I found myself smiling as the methods unfolded.
As an added bonus, Atlas includes his ‘Wish You Were Here’ routine at the end of the book, a fantastic holiday prediction effect. The video below features Steve Haresign, who printed Train Tracking for Atlas, performing his version of this routine. It’s a remarkable effect worth exploring.
I greatly respect Atlas for not mass-producing the book and keeping the price accessible only to those genuinely interested. He limited the print run and personally vetted potential buyers to ensure that Train Tracking was a good fit for them. This reflects his commitment to the art of magic.
Reviewing and explaining this work without revealing too much of the method is challenging. However, if you’re fortunate enough to acquire a copy and are willing to invest the necessary effort, you’ll have a true miracle in your repertoire. This book is a treasure to read, absorb, and cherish in your magic library forever!
