During the Genii and 31 Faces North conventions, I showcased several in-the-hands packet effects utilizing a novel technique, which garnered unexpectedly strong reactions. Despite my doubts about fooling seasoned magicians with such a straightforward method, I was met with astonished expressions and enthusiastic responses, confirming the effectiveness of my approach.

One effect features the Ace, 2, 3, and 4 initially turning face up, only to flip face down one by one. Upon recounting, each card appears face up sequentially while the others remain down, culminating in an instant reveal where all cards turn face up. The backs change colors from blue to white, green, red, and back to blue, allowing the spectator to examine the packet.

Another effect involves the four Kings and four Aces. The Aces are placed face down on the table while the Kings are held face up. One by one, the Kings turn face down, transforming into the Aces, which are then revealed as the Kings on the table.

A variation showcases four double-blank cards, which reveal red backs one at a time, only to display the four Jacks. Ultimately, the faces and backs vanish, leaving just the blank cards.

The manuscript concludes with an effect featuring the four Queens. A Queen is repeatedly discarded, yet magically returns to the packet. In a surprising twist, a Queen vanishes while held by a spectator, and the magician ends up with four of a kind once more.

All these effects utilize standard cards, with simple, easy-to-learn moves. The concepts can be adapted for various performances, making them ideal for walkaround situations.
