Mark Elsdon – Chaos 2
In 1992, Mark Elsdon introduced the groundbreaking ‘Chaos & Order’ triumph routine, inspired by a self-shuffling deck concept shared by a Chinese magician during his time in Hong Kong. Later, Michael Weber contributed the thematic patter of ‘Chaos and Order,’ enhancing the performance. For ten years, Mark showcased this routine across various settings, achieving remarkable results. Recently, he identified several enhancements, including a method to increase the number of selections and streamline the selection process. The latest version represents a significant upgrade, featuring the innovative “Chaos Machine” integrated into the card case, which adds a perfect finishing touch.
Effect:
Two spectators each choose a card to hold. The deck is split in half and placed face-to-face. It is then temporarily inserted into the “Chaos Machine” (the card case). Upon pressing the ‘CHAOS’ button, the deck is removed and displayed, revealing a stunning mix of face-up and face-down cards in a chaotic arrangement. Both sides of the deck are shown in this disordered state. The spectators’ cards are added back into the chaotic deck—one face-up and one face-down. After placing the deck back into the “Chaos Machine,” the ‘ORDER’ button is pressed. The deck is cleanly tipped out, revealing that every card is face-up except for the two selections.
Key Features:
- Extremely easy to perform
- Almost instantaneous reset
- No sleight of hand required
- Perfect for walkaround or table performances
