“One of magic’s best kept secrets.” – R. Paul Wilson
“In Giancarlo’s hands, magic flows with elegance, and this work exemplifies that.”
“His routines possess an elegant and original structure.” – Bébel
Giancarlo Scalia represents the elite Spanish school of magic, a group dedicated to advancing the art form. They don’t merely devise new techniques; they craft justifications, motivations, movements, timing, and misdirection tactics. Engaging with their insights offers much more than just learning a ‘trick.’
In his debut release with Ellusionist, titled *Cuatro* (meaning FOUR), Giancarlo shares four of his favorite Ace Assembly routines. Here’s what you’ll discover:
- Undercover Ace Assembly: A single ace is concealed beneath a napkin, postcard, or coaster. One by one, the other three aces vanish, only to reappear magically when the cover is lifted.
- Seven Card Assembly: Witness a seamless gathering of cards as the separated aces vanish one by one, joining the ace of spades. The movements are deliberate and fair, creating an unforgettable experience.
- Cards Under Spectator: A spectator selects an ace, and while you read their mind, they sit on that ace. The remaining three aces vanish completely, only to appear beneath the spectator—an impromptu and astonishing effect.
- Russian Assembly: This routine cleverly hides its performance within an explanation. As you pretend to reveal the method, you flawlessly execute the routine again under impossible conditions. This is Giancarlo’s signature opener and a standout feature of *Cuatro*.
Filmed in Spain with contributions from Javier Natera and Dani DaOrtiz, this project is expertly explained from multiple camera angles by a creator who adds depth to his effects.
Magic should focus on ‘why’ as much as ‘what,’ and *Cuatro* reveals that philosophy.
