What Will He Teach?

OPENER – David kicks off with a comedic prediction that sets the mood for the entire show. It features three random predictions on a dry erase board, with two and a half of them being hilariously offbeat. The final part of the last prediction assures the audience that they will both laugh and be mystified by his magic.

SPONGE BALL MONTE – This is David’s all-time favorite trick to perform. It’s his take on the classic shell game, but with sponge balls. Inspired by a throwaway gag from David Williamson’s “Sleight of Dave,” this routine captivates not just the volunteer but also drives the audience wild. It’s a trick that becomes increasingly entertaining for repeat viewers, as long as the volunteer is new to the experience.

SHREDDER – David borrows the largest bill available and has a spectator place it into an envelope. This envelope is mixed with four identical ones, and David humorously collaborates with the volunteer to eliminate (or shred) four envelopes, all while hoping the money isn’t in the one being destroyed. The audience loves witnessing someone else’s anxiety over potentially losing their hard-earned cash.

SLEIGHT OF MOUTH – David transforms the classic “card found in mouth” trick into a hilarious routine involving two audience members. This segment is filled with laughter and features the biggest gasp of the show as the audience wonders, “Is he really doing that?”

BONUS:

SILENT OPENER – David enters the stage with a giant plastic smile in his mouth. Using cue cards, he prompts an audience member to name any card. Once the card is named, David sets aside the cue cards and lets the plastic smile drop, revealing the folded card he had hidden in his mouth all along. This clever routine draws inspiration from Jon Allen’s “Silent Treatment” and Angelo Carbone’s “Cue The Magic.”

Hi everyone, I’m David. Honestly, I dislike writing bios about myself; it feels strange. The truth is, many of you might not know who I am, and that’s perfectly fine. I’m just grateful for the opportunity to share my 30+ minute act that I’ve honed over the last 20 years. It has evolved and become funnier with time, and I can’t wait to present it to you. This act is designed to entertain and engage, making it just as enjoyable for me as it is for the audience experiencing it for the first time. My aim is to have everyone laughing while being amazed, and I believe I’ve achieved that.
