“Predictionary incorporates a very clever idea that I have not seen used in this way before. It is a great utility device that creates some fantastic mysteries. It should find great favor with many mentalists.” – Richard Osterlind

This innovative utility gimmick enables you to transmit thoughts and create seemingly impossible predictions without relying on nail-writers or any secret writing tools. If you witnessed Devin’s demonstration in his first lecture, you know it astonished many magicians. While he showcased the basic concept, this e-book reveals a cost-effective method to create the gimmick and includes four additional captivating routines.

BASIC EFFECT:

The mentalist claims to be thinking of a word and projects it into the spectator’s mind. The spectator freely calls out a word (with no forcing or restrictions). The mentalist hands them a dictionary with a bookmark, stating that their prediction is on that page. When the spectator opens to the bookmarked page, they discover that the word they just mentioned is circled in black marker!

DO-AS-I-DO:

Both the mentalist and a participant secretly circle a word in their respective dictionaries. When compared, both dictionaries reveal the same circled word, showcasing a classic card effect using two dictionaries.

THE UNWRITTEN THOUGHT by Devin Knight and Al Mann

A participant chooses a word in their mind from countless possibilities without looking at any list. The performer remains unaware of the exact word, as it is never written down or disclosed. The revelation occurs only after the effect concludes!

The performer gives the participant a bookmarked dictionary and asks them to turn to that page. The performer claims to have circled a word that defines the participant’s thought. For instance, if the participant opens the dictionary to the marked page and finds ‘beautiful’ circled, the performer asks, “Does that define your word?” The participant responds, “Yes.” When asked what their word was, they say, “Pretty.” This effect is genuine and visible to both the participant and the audience, creating a baffling experience using a little-known principle by Al Mann.

  • NO STOOGES OR INSTANT STOOGES.
  • NO DUAL REALITY.
  • NO NAIL WRITERS.
  • NO SECRET WRITING OF ANY KIND.
  • NO PRE-SHOW WORK.
  • USE ANY BORROWED DICTIONARY.

Once the effect concludes, the dictionary can be examined and gifted to the participant as a keepsake. By purchasing inexpensive dictionaries from dollar stores, you can afford to give them away.

This concept isn’t limited to dictionaries; it can also be applied to phone books. A participant could freely select a business from the Yellow Pages and find that same business circled in the White Pages.

REVIEWS:

“Much detail is given and I cannot think of a reason why someone would not be able to perform this confidently after reading the instructions. One point I really enjoyed was the clever way that you can remove the gimmick and still give the book (dictionary) away at the end of the effect.” – Christian and Katalina

“It works every time, and you can dress the effect up in just about any presentational wrapping paper you want. Really excellent. In the right hands, this will look simply miraculous.” – Ian Rowland, Magic Circular Magazine
