The Grip
Originally unveiled at the Blackpool Magic Convention, we have a limited stock of this product available. Below is the foreword by Derren Brown, who is currently touring with Andy:
“Andrew Frost has the best Double Lift I’ve ever seen.”
“Throughout my experience, I’ve witnessed numerous Double Lifts. I’ve endured the awkward moments as novices struggle to execute the move, while I’ve also admired the effortless finesse of seasoned performers. Yet, despite the skill involved, there’s often a hint of something that makes the sleight detectable.
You might argue that there have been times when I was genuinely fooled. In those instances, perhaps the Double Lift went unnoticed, and thus, I wouldn’t include those moments in my critique of others. However, I stand by my claim that Andrew’s technique is the only one that has truly deceived me; when he demonstrated the move, I couldn’t comprehend that I was witnessing a Double. It’s flawless.
Andy is an exceptional magician. When I invited him to join our team, I was amazed by the admiration he receives from his peers. Everyone spoke highly of him, and after spending time with him, I understood why. He maintains his likability on stage, a rare quality that many lose when performing. Perhaps it’s his background in stand-up or teaching, but he connects effortlessly with his audience, delivering a well-crafted performance that is both engaging and humorous. I’ve laughed uncontrollably at his tricks during our time touring together for Showman.
Moreover, he speaks highly of others. Observing Andy, Alex Hansford, and Bradley Hodgins during late-night card sessions, I was impressed by their kindness and support for one another. This camaraderie extends to the magic community as a whole; they never speak ill of anyone. When does that happen? It seems to stem from the confidence and generosity that true talent brings.
While I can’t say how these admirable traits influence a magic utility sleight like the Double Lift, it’s evident that he is kind, wise, and well-regarded. We should pay attention to what someone like him has to offer. Focus on the details shared here, as mastering this technique is invaluable. If you have the chance to spend more time with Andy, I hope you, like me, continue to learn from him.
