Effect Overview
Phase 1: The magician borrows a pen and a bill. The bill is folded in half with the pen inserted vertically into the fold. After unfolding the bill for the audience to see the pen, it is refolded. The performer then strikes the end of the pen, pushing the tip through the fold. The pen is pulled through and placed behind the magician’s ear. When the bill is opened, it is shown to be completely unharmed!
Phase 2: The bill is folded again, and the pen is inserted horizontally into the fold, clearly visible to the spectators. The magician grips the pen’s tip and performs a sawing motion, making the pen appear to melt through the bill. Once opened, the bill remains unharmed, and everything can be handed out for examination.
