Luis Otero – Enlightened Card Magic

Luis Otero stands out as one of Latin America’s premier magicians, renowned for his captivating performances at theaters, private events, and corporate gatherings. With numerous television appearances and a global lecturing schedule, he has made a significant impact in the magic community. Otero began his journey as a successful restaurant magician in Venezuela, where he also established the Sociedad Venezolana de Ilusionismo and the Escuela Cartomágica de Caracas.

Routines performed and explained:

• Otero Opener: A stunning visual effect where a card is inserted face-up into the deck, only to instantly turn face-down and transform into the selected card.

• Transposition By Estimation: A chosen card is lost in the deck while a favorite card rests under a spectator’s hand. After cutting to a specific number of cards, the favorite card is revealed, while the actual selection is found beneath the spectator’s hand.

• Card To Bill Change: A selected card visually morphs into paper currency, which is later discovered in your pocket.

• Cartogami: A signed bill is folded and placed inside a card box while a signed selection is lost in the deck. After several attempts to locate the card, the signed bill transforms into the selected card using “Cartogami,” and the bill is found back in the card box.

• Super Jazz Aces: An Ace Assembly inspired by Peter Kane’s classic, where the Aces vanish from between indifferent cards and reappear in a leader packet. The routine culminates with all four Aces swapping places with the indifferent cards.

• Rapidigitation: A card is chosen from the deck, which is then spread on the table. In a flash, you reach in and retrieve the selected card.

• Record Aces: A brilliant routine where the four Aces are shuffled into the deck, only for you to cut to them in record time. The performance concludes with the deck being arranged in new deck order, with the remaining cards sorted by number and suit.

• Vanishing Collectors: The four Aces are placed on the table while three cards are selected and lost in the deck. One by one, the Aces vanish from the top of the deck, only to reveal the selections sandwiched between them when the deck is spread.

• Customized Coincidence: A standout routine that often earns Luis standing ovations. This multi-phase effect begins with a spectator shuffling the deck in various orientations, leading to numerous coincidences where selected cards match their counterparts under seemingly impossible conditions. The deck is then controlled to reveal cards in any requested sequence, culminating in a stunning finale where the face-up and face-down cards align perfectly.
