About Jim Krenz
Jim Krenz has been passionate about magic since the age of five. With fifteen years spent at Magic Inc. under the guidance of Jay and Francis Marshall, he honed his skills performing close-up magic at Schulien’s Restaurant in Chicago. In 1993, he received the Most Valuable Participant award at the esteemed FFFF convention. Jim has developed over thirty original effects and techniques and has lectured in nine different countries. His mentors include renowned magicians such as Ed Marlo, Jim Ryan, Tony Andruzzi, Don Alan, Eugene Burger, Slydini, Tommy Wonder, and Juan Tamariz.
In his lecture, Jim shares his unique ideas, theories, and routines that enhance close-up magic. He will demonstrate his hands-off cards across routine, where he never touches the cards, and his acclaimed torn and restored card effect, known as Ripper, which Juan Tamariz has praised as his favorite. Jim’s invisible triumph will astound audiences, and his wild card routine features the impressive Imp-Load, where a signed card vanishes and reappears inside a box in full view. R. Paul Wilson states, “I’ve been fooled badly by this. Highly recommended.” Throughout the lecture, Jim discusses his creative process and performance theories, including participant engagement, the significance of magic, and the art of practice. Other highlights include his coins across routine, NeoMix (oil and water), Coincidencia (a coincidence effect with shuffled cards), and his innovative take on John Cornelius’ Pen Through Anything, elevating it to a miraculous experience.
