Unveiling the Mystery of Anastasia
In September 1918, at Siding 37 railway station near Perm, a remarkable incident unfolded as eight witnesses recounted the recapture of a young woman following her escape attempt. Among these witnesses were Maxim Grigoyev, Tatiana Sitnikova with her son Fyodor, Ivan Kuklin, Matrina Kuklina, Vassily Ryabov, Ustinya Varankina, and Dr. Pavel Utkin, who treated the girl after her ordeal. His account serves as the foundation for this extraordinary tale.
Some witnesses identified the girl as Anastasia when shown photographs of the grand duchess by investigators from the White Russian Army. Dr. Utkin revealed that during her treatment, he extracted a bullet from her upper arm, and the injured girl whispered, “I am Anastasia.” Following orders from the secret police, he obtained a prescription for a patient referred to only as “N.”
Utkin firmly believed he had treated the Grand Duchess and kept the bullet as a grim memento of that day. In gratitude, the girl gifted him a small gold ring, saying, “Please take this ring; it is worth nothing where I am going.”
The Performance of “On the Blood”
This captivating performance unfolds in three acts:
Act 1 – The Romanov Murders
A mysterious box is revealed to the audience, acquired from a stall near the Church on the Blood during a recent trip to Russia. This box belonged to M. Zlatoustova and A. Petrova, distant cousins of Dr. Pavel Utkin, who is intricately linked to the Romanov murders and the enigma surrounding Anastasia.
As the box opens, a bloody bullet encased in a glass bottle, a gold ring, and a collection of photographs are displayed. Setting aside the bullet and ring, you spread out seven photos of the Romanov family, recounting their brutal murder in 1918 during the Bolshevik Revolution, from which Anastasia allegedly escaped.
Act 2 – Dr. Pavel Utkin’s Encounter
The next day, at the railway station, witnesses reported the recapture of a young woman after her escape attempt. White Russian Army investigators detained the girl, who bore a gunshot wound, and called for medical assistance. Dr. Pavel stepped forward to help.
As he removed the bullet from her arm, the girl leaned in and whispered, “I am Anastasia, the daughter of the ruler.” This very bullet was what Dr. Pavel extracted from her arm.
The bullet is then passed around the audience for inspection.
After treating her wound, the girl, claiming to be Anastasia, expressed her gratitude by placing a small gold ring in Dr. Pavel’s hand, which is then shown to the audience.
Act 3 – The Revelation
Finally, you reveal to the audience that using the artefacts from Dr. Pavel’s box, we can substantiate that Anastasia did indeed escape. However, her ultimate fate remains a mystery following her recapture at the train station.
Not only will you demonstrate Anastasia’s escape, but you will also unveil that she was aided by Rasputin!
