Transforming the Classic Mentalism Effect

This innovative work pays tribute to the renowned number tables, central to the “Guess Your Age” game. Aiming to enhance this traditional mentalism effect, I sought to elevate its impact without complicating execution. By emphasizing key aspects of the underlying principle, I created a new set of cards, an advanced iteration of the number tables.

In this revamped version, the spectator selects and conceals the tables containing their chosen number, discarding those that do not. With a brief glance at the eliminated tables, the mentalist can accurately reveal the selected number.

The magic becomes more compelling, yet the execution remains as straightforward as the classic version. The ebook includes printable and laminate-ready table designs, along with comprehensive instructions for their use. Beyond the traditional ‘Guess a Number’ game, two additional effects utilizing the same principle are included, where the mathematics remain hidden.

• The mentalist effortlessly guesses a spectator’s chosen title from a curated list of 14 iconic films.

• Quodlibet. This title translates to ‘what you want, or what you prefer’, and delivers a truly impactful effect. A spectator mentally selects a card from a standard deck of 52. They then eliminate the folders that do not contain their chosen card, keeping the others. After a moment of focus, the mentalist reveals the card solely thought of by the spectator, with the option for the spectator to draw it from the covered deck themselves.
