Who Is He?

Sal Piacente, a Brooklyn native, boasts over 30 years of experience in the casino industry and is a leading expert in casino game protection and memory enhancement techniques. His training and consulting services have been sought by over 100 casinos, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies worldwide. Piacente’s programs include live demonstrations of cheating techniques, real surveillance footage of scams, and engaging training that inspires participants to enhance their vigilance.

His fascination with deception began as a teenager when his father introduced him to the Three Card Monte scam, aiming to protect him from being swindled. This sparked a lifelong interest in understanding scams and the psychological tactics behind them. Today, Sal continues his father’s legacy by educating others to prevent victimization through knowledge.

After a transformative trip to Las Vegas, Sal pursued a career in the casino industry, starting as a blackjack dealer in Atlantic City following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps. He later taught at a local dealing school, where his skills caught the attention of an international casino consulting firm, leading to opportunities to conduct game protection seminars across North America and the Caribbean. Despite the instability of freelance work, he gained valuable experience in various casino roles, from dealer to surveillance liaison.

In 2000, Piacente was appointed as a Game Protection Specialist by an international casino management company, where he developed training programs for table games and surveillance staff while analyzing suspicious gameplay across 11 casinos globally. In 2006, he founded his own company, UniverSal Game Protection Development, Inc., with his former employer as one of his first clients.

As a tribute to his father, Sal authored the book Street Monte, an exposé on the street scam that ignited his career. He has appeared in several instructional DVDs, including Poker Cheats Exposed, Three Shell Game, Three Card Monte, and Card Shark Secrets: How to Catch a Cheat! His impactful work has led to numerous television appearances, including Good Morning America (ABC), Hustling the House (Discovery), Cheating Vegas (Destination America), Casino Wars (Nat Geo), and High Stakes: Bet Your Life on Vegas (TLC). He also hosted a series on the Travel Channel titled Game On America.

Sal has been a featured speaker at various casino industry trade shows and conferences, including G2E (Las Vegas), G2E Asia (Macau), World Game Protection Conference, N.I.G.A., Canadian Gaming Education Forum, Casino Risk Forum (Melbourne), and Casino Surveillance Network (Auckland).

Currently, Sal is passionate about sharing mnemonic techniques that empower individuals to memorize numbers, lists, and card sequences quickly. He discovered these methods while investigating a baccarat scam involving memorized cards and is in the process of writing books on mnemonic techniques and baccarat scams.

Sal resides in Florence, Kentucky, with his wife, Dee, and their two children.
