SIRIously Mental by Michael Pilkey
Effect:
A spectator named Adam thinks of a song and memorizes it. You then ask them to mentally sing the song while you activate Siri on your phone. Miraculously, Siri plays “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, revealing Adam’s thought.
History of the Effect by Mikey Pilkey:
“In early 2017, I shared the initial concept in the Svenpad Supreme Owners Facebook group, and the response was overwhelming. The core idea was to instruct Siri to ‘play the song they are thinking of,’ which worked surprisingly well. This concept was later featured in the September 2017 issue of Genii magazine in Jeff Prace’s ‘Left Handed’ column. Through our discussions, Jeff and I developed innovative enhancements. One of my suggestions was to personalize the command by using the spectator’s name, like saying ‘play the song Samantha is thinking of.’ Jeff loved this twist! He also proposed a clever method for Siri to initially play the wrong song before correcting itself, which truly amazed me! Now that you know the backstory, let’s dive into SIRIously Mental!”
