Fate, Free Will & Influence: A Captivating Chair Test
Experience one of the most remarkable and versatile chair tests in magic with “Fate, Free Will & Influence.” Developed by Steve Pellegrino over seven years of performances, this routine is a must-have addition to your show.
In this performance, an audience member holds a prediction while four spectators are randomly invited to the stage to select chairs. Six envelopes are presented, each containing either a black card or a white card, with three of each color.
As the spectators choose their envelopes, they also have the freedom to switch chairs and envelopes at will, making the experience interactive and engaging.
After the selections, two envelopes remain on the table, revealing two black cards. When the first spectator’s envelope is opened, it reveals a white card.
You emphasize the myriad possibilities of the outcome. The spectator holding the initial prediction reads it aloud, and it perfectly aligns with the events that unfolded on stage.
Taking it a step further, you challenge the audience to consider whether fate, free will, or influence guided their choices, as they discover large cards on the backs of their chairs that match the colors of the envelopes.
This routine guarantees two powerful moments of applause.
The manuscript includes two routines: “Fate, Free Will & Influence” and “This, That & The Other,” along with customization ideas to tailor the performance to your unique style. You can assemble everything in under an hour for about $20 with a quick trip to the office supply store.
A bonus feature, “The Kurotsuke Pass Over,” enhances Max Maven’s classic Kurotsuke routine. Steve introduces an additional layer of deception to the stone selection process, providing an exciting twist for those already familiar with the original routine.
