LUCKY CARD
LUCKY CARD has been Wayne’s signature close-up performance for years. Despite the challenges posed by his paralysis, which limits the use of his hands, he continues to deliver this routine. Wayne’s approach strips the performance down to its essentials, adapting it to his ‘hands-off’ style while enhancing the original effect. This refinement sharpens the plot and simplifies the mechanics, making it seem as though the spectator is in complete control.
Inspired by the classic card effect, The Trick That Can’t Be Explained, Wayne discovered this gem later in life and was captivated by its improvisational nature. The routine demands a high level of card magic expertise, as the performer must navigate various outcomes based on the cards drawn. However, due to his condition, Wayne needed to adapt this complexity into something more manageable, a challenge many magicians also face.
To address this, Wayne developed and published his Lucky Card routine years ago. Recently, he collaborated with Alan Wong to create Lucky Card Deluxe, a device designed to enhance the theatricality of revealing predictions. This innovative method elevates the presentation far beyond merely placing a prediction card on a table or inside an envelope.
While specifically designed for Wayne’s Lucky Card, Lucky Card Deluxe adds an element of intrigue to any prediction or coincidence-based card effect, as it is securely encased in a plastic frame. For the first time, Wayne shares his four-stage routine that culminates in the Lucky Card effect. With just a deck of cards and the Frame, you can perform a complete card act. When asked about his favorite effect, Wayne cryptically states, “I’ve always believed my best effect is my next one. But of all my material, I’d choose the Lucky Card as my go-to hands-off card routine: I love performing it.”
