Trapped by David Devlin
The effect is straightforward yet captivating. A spectator selects a card, with the option to change their mind at any time. After signing the card across its face, it is folded into quarters, ensuring both the card’s identity and signature remain visible throughout the performance. A mason jar with a secure lid is displayed, and the signed card is pressed against the bottom. In a stunning moment, the card visibly penetrates the jar and becomes trapped inside! Spectators can clearly see that it is indeed the signed card. Once the jar is opened, the card is gently removed, unfolded, and handed to the spectator for thorough examination. Everything—the jar, lid, and card—can be inspected as they are all ungimmicked!
The detailed eBook provides comprehensive explanations, along with links to several instructional videos that simplify the learning process. This effect is surprisingly easy to perform!
Additionally, two innovative utility sleights are included: “Devlin’s Little Bottom” (not what you think!) and “The Gamick Switch.” This switch is so clean it practically sparkles! You’ll find these versatile sleights invaluable in your magic repertoire.
David also presents two alternative performances. In the first, the spectator can keep the jar with the card trapped inside indefinitely, potentially turning it into a cherished family heirloom displayed in their home.
In the second version, the card is magically and visibly extracted from the jar and is instantly handed to the spectator to keep forever. This elegant piece of close-up magic is sure to impress.
