FALLING: This routine draws inspiration from Roy Walton’s brilliant “Cascade.” Here, several Jumbo cards transform in a striking and visual manner. Originally titled “The Mutant Hand,” the name has been updated to avoid confusion with the recent “Mutanz” variation.
GREETINGS: Based on Tom Seller’s “JUST CHANCE,” this effect is perfect for occasions where a greeting card is fitting. While it uses Pounds Sterling, feel free to substitute with Dollars or any currency of your choice.
LUCKY FOR SUM: Many may overlook this effect due to its setup, yet it delivers an astonishing impact on the audience, thanks to the Gilbreath Principle.
THE EQUALIZER: More of a brain teaser than a magical effect, this routine is best reserved for the right moment.
SECRETS MERCHANTS: Featured in “Alternative Card Magic,” Jerry Sadowitz’s “The Whisperers” offers a fresh take on the classic Whispering Joker plot. This trick sparked interest among card enthusiasts, leading to various adaptations. Unlike the original, which only counted four cards while visibly having five, this version makes the count logical with just three Queens in play.
AMOUNT ACCOUNT RECOUNTED: This is a handling variation of Marty Kane’s “Amount Account” (January 1996), which itself was based on Gene Finnell’s “Down/Under Counter” from Gene Finnell’s Card Magic.
PICTORIAL RATIFICATION: Inspired by Eddie Clever’s marketed item “Mental Spell,” which utilized 26 duplicates, this effect emerged from efforts to eliminate duplicates, resulting in a unique outcome far removed from the original trick.
A SAFE BET: Present five sealed envelopes, one marked with a question mark (?). Each envelope contains a prize, but the one ‘IN QUESTION’ holds a special reward. The spectator mixes the envelopes and arranges them in a row, numbered 1 to 5. After a series of swaps, they pocket one envelope at a time. The final envelope, revealed to contain a £20 note, is pocketed by you, while the spectator is invited to open their envelopes at home.
JUMBO JEOPARDY: This torn and restored card effect merges concepts from Charles Jordan and Dick Zimmerman.
NOT AS IMPROMPTU: In “The Devil’s Playthings,” Roy Walton introduced an effect called ‘Almost Impromptu,’ which simplified ‘Liberty’ from the same book. This is a variation of that earlier effect.
MY GOODNESS – NO STEBBINS: This routine aims to recreate Julyan Sandy’s “My Goodness – My Stebbins” (Abacus, July 2001) using a minimal stack. Only two cards need to be set, trading some preparation for less cutting freedom. It employs the Count-back Force (20/30) and a Faro Shuffle.
FOUR-GATHERERS: Inspired by Hofzinser’s “The Queen of Hearts,” this routine culminates in a grand display reminiscent of Koran’s “Salute to Vernon.”
