Introducing “Use Your Illusions,” the latest ebook from the creator of Brain Play, endorsed by Phedon Bilek in his acclaimed book, Proteus. This collection features innovative card mentalism effects tailored for close-up and walkaround performers.
What’s Inside?
- Pens N’ Ruses: A participant writes down a card on a post-it note, which they keep hidden. Another participant shuffles the deck and deals cards until they feel compelled to stop. The post-it reveals the thought-of card, and the participant turns over the card they stopped at, which matches perfectly. An incredible display of synchronicity, ideal for couples or newlyweds.
- November Frame: Similar to the previous effect, but this time using drawings. A participant creates a doodle and mixes it with various drawings. They deal from the pile and reveal their drawing, which matches the one they were thinking of.
- Paradise Tricky: A freely chosen card is discovered to be the only one missing from an unaltered deck, revealing that the performer had predicted the card in advance.
- Sweet DL of Mine: A participant thinks of a card, writes it down, and sets it aside. An indifferent card is placed in their hands, which magically transforms into the card they were thinking of.
- Welcome to the Jumble: The performer names their favorite card, and not only does the participant find it from a shuffled deck, but they also manage to deal down to a card they were thinking of.
- Appetite for Deckstruction: A collection of ideas that can be integrated with this principle, including a star sign divination inspired by Ian Wragg, and a contribution from Steve Wood that showcases another remarkable instance of synchronicity between the performer and participant’s chosen cards.
“I’ve just finished reading ‘Use Your Illusions’ and I can assure you that the effects Bazz has created are clever, practical, and impossible. You can perform them as magic or mentalism (Bazz discusses his preferences in the book), and unlike 99% of ebooks, this is material you will actually use. Highly recommended.” – Mark Elsdon
“You’ve pulled this fairly simple effect apart and covered every possible issue and performance idea, and I think that’s awesome and shows you really care about it!! I love it and will definitely be giving it a try, thanks man!!” – Tom Bennett
“Absolutely love some of the thinking.” – Joel Dickinson
“I’ve just finished reading it and there’s some good, smart thinking in it. Barry covers a lot of ground and knows how to structure things to heighten the effect from the participant’s perspective. I enjoyed this, and it deserves to do well.” – Steve Wood
