Using a red-backed deck, a spectator selects a card, which is then lost in the pack. The magician introduces four blue-backed cards, all featuring blank faces. He declares, “I’ll use these blank cards to reveal what your card ISN’T!” One by one, the magician magically prints the blanks with the faces of the selected card’s mates. “These three cards reveal what it ISN’T. This final blank will show us what your card IS – it will switch places with your card in the deck!” After a flick, nothing seems to happen. “Oh, I only swapped the backs!” The blank card is flipped to reveal a red back! As the deck is spread, one card stands out, having changed to blue – it’s the chosen card!
