Ben Harris – Dimensional Relativity

PDF – Discover the revolutionary plot from 1981!

Transform a signed card INSIDE OUT to create a memorable souvenir! It’s rare to introduce a completely new concept in magic, but Dimensional Relativity breaks the mold. Released in 1981 as a printed booklet, this innovative effect of turning a signed card inside out was first conceived on August 19, 1979, and quickly gained popularity, leading to two printings within three months. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, capturing the attention of many in the magic community.

I’m immensely proud of the effect’s simplicity and the clean finish it provides, along with a unique souvenir. The cleverness of the gaff being the souvenir itself still brings a smile to my face. The handling has been refined from the original version, making it easier and more effective than ever. This could easily become one of your go-to effects. Give it a try!

Here’s how it works:

A blue-backed deck is shuffled, and a spectator selects and signs a card on both sides. Once the ink dries, the card is placed face-down in the center of the face-up deck, acting as a catalyst for the upcoming magic.

A nearby spectator is invited to initiate the magic by squeezing the deck. However, the performer appears skeptical about the success of the “magical moment.” Spreading the deck across the table, he notes that the selected card remains reversed in the center. While the entire deck has changed from blue to red backs, this doesn’t seem to satisfy the performer. “Just a result of internal heat,” he remarks. “Let’s try again…”

The deck is closed and handed back for another squeeze. This time, the performer is pleased. Upon spreading the deck again, something unusual occurs: the selected card has transformed, appearing discolored and foreign! “Too much heat this time; you’ve blistered it,” he comments.

The card is removed and displayed on both sides. The performer taps one corner on the table, creating a small dog-ear. The card, now turned inside out, splits into two layers, revealing both the front and back, complete with signatures, on the inside!

The inverted and split card is given away as a souvenir, leaving the performer with a clean deck to continue the show.
