Introducing the sequel to the acclaimed Gimmick It Yourself project! Following the success and positive feedback from the original, I’m excited to present more DIY magic gimmicks. This series reveals how to create unique gimmicks that enhance your performances, whether for casual shows, professional gigs, or online content.

In Gimmick It Yourself 2, you’ll learn to craft four innovative gimmicks that have elevated my performances and created captivating moments for social media. Each tutorial provides a brief overview of the gimmick, step-by-step construction instructions, and a variety of routines you can perform.

This project draws inspiration from the multi-trick releases that were prevalent when I began my magic journey. My goal is to deliver exceptional value, offering you more routines, ideas, and inspiration than a single release could provide.

Gimmick Overview

EVO

The EVO gimmick is incredibly versatile and practical, perfect for crafting visually stunning magic for social media and real-world performances. With EVO, you can execute a range of effects, from a mid-air coin vanish to a deceptive card-to-pocket routine. Notably, the items you manipulate don’t need to be magnetic, although they can be.

The tutorial covers techniques for visually and deceptively switching items, vanishing and restoring objects, pushing items through a glass table, and performing PK effects. Additionally, any effect that utilizes a PK ring can also be achieved with the EVO gimmick. Plus, it operates silently, eliminating the disruptive “CLUNK” sound when items vanish.

UTILIGHT

Utilight is a practical tool that enables an ultra-clean coin vanish without sleight of hand. Think of it as the simplicity of a Scotch and Soda gimmick, but without the need for two coins! The tutorial includes easy, no-sleight-of-hand vanishes and teaches you how to seamlessly switch regular coins for other items right in front of your audience.

Utilight can be applied to routines like a coin bend or used to switch in gimmicked coins, such as a coin bite gimmick. Additionally, you’ll learn a straightforward coin-in-sugar-packet routine, ideal for both casual and professional performances.

PHONEY

Phoney reimagines the classic bottle-through-table illusion, making it accessible with everyday smartphones. No longer do you need a formal setting to perform this memorable close-up illusion. The tutorial includes the classic ‘through table’ routine and a unique routine where the phone vanishes and reappears inside a sealed Pringles can (note: only compatible with phones that fit inside a Pringles can!).

Also featured is Foney Phoney, a quick, inexpensive, and easy-to-make alternative to the main gimmick, allowing you to experiment with the concept right away.

REAL WORKER

The Real Worker is a simple pull-based gimmick that allows you to vanish and retrieve any bill or banknote effortlessly, without any plastic components. It’s easy to construct and has multiple applications. The tutorial includes routines such as signed bills in a spectator’s wallet, a signed bill in an orange, and the Sharp Money routine.

The tuition video spans over 2 hours, packed with my favorite ideas and routines utilizing these gimmicks. Like the first installment, all the gimmicks and concepts can easily complement or enhance your existing routines.
