The Gambler’s Palm Revisited – Second Edition

This comprehensive manuscript explores a variety of card techniques, including card switches, palming, side steals, and palm replacements, all utilizing the gambler’s palm. It also covers advanced methods such as palming during a tabled riffle shuffle and the one-hand turnover switch famously featured in the film Shade.

Authored by Daniel MacMillan, this is the second edition of The Gambler’s Palm Revisited, originally published in 1977. Following the first edition, Daniel contributed several works to various publications by Ken Simmons. In 1999, Ken Simmons released the second edition, which not only included the complete text of the original but also incorporated additional material from Daniel’s contributions to Ken’s publications. A pivotal meeting in 1982 between Ken, Daniel, and Ed Marlo led to the publication of three related items by Ed, which are also featured in this edition.

Due to the limited print run, only a select group of magicians acquired copies of these editions. The release of the movie SHADE in 2004, which showcased the One-Hand Turn Over Switch, sparked renewed interest in Daniel’s work, particularly as Jason England demonstrated this technique in the Tricks-of-the-Trade feature.
