THOSE ENIGMATIC ROYALS: A clever concept inspired by Vernon’s ‘Card Puzzle’ and Peter Kane’s ‘Royal Families’ from his booklet A Further Card Session, along with Roy Walton’s “Split Up” from The Complete Walton, Vol.1.
A SENSE OF FREEDOM: This effect, inspired by Shigeo Futagawa’s number prediction using cardboard, allows for a seamless prediction with playing cards, eliminating any concerns about timing. MESSAGE UNDERSTOOD: A spectator seemingly reads another’s mind using the ‘Automatic Placement’ principle. BAKER STREET BRANCH: This effect was inspired by Phil Goldstein’s “Sherloct,” featured in Abracadabra No. 2410. DALEY BASIS: This routine incorporates ideas from Jacob Daley, Alex Elmsley (Between Your Palms), and Roy Walton (Card Case). THE TWO WAY SYNDROME: Two tricks utilize the same eighteen-card setup, featuring nine pairs of color-matching cards, allowing for immediate transition between effects. MIXED REACTION: Inspired by Stewart James’ “Miraskill,” this effect begins with the first phase of “Miraskill” and transitions into a different principle by Gene Finnell. FORESEE AND FOUR DON’T: This trick allows cards to be shown to one of four selected spectators, keeping the others unaware of the faces, based on ‘Les Cartes Generale’ from Sach’s Sleight of Hand. GILBREATH RESET: This system can be applied to any trick using the Gilbreath principle for alternating pairs, such as reds and blacks or odds and evens. GAME, RESET AND MATCH: This effect results in a perfect color match, inspired by Roy Walton’s ‘Regimentation’ from the Charles Hudson column in the Linking Ring. |
A MOMENT IN TIME: Based on Bob Hummer’s trick “Kilroy Was Here.”
THOUGHT UP: The Jack McMillen Plunger Rising Card remains one of the most effective methods for causing a card to rise from the pack without any preparation. This version requires a perfect Faro shuffle. HUMMERISM: Bob Hummer, a true genius of magic, developed unique principles in card magic, and this effect showcases one of those with an added twist. THE EXPERTS: A production of four Blackjack hands that serves as a clever con, which can also be adapted for Royal Marriages by substituting Aces for Queens. HOSIANDU: This effect resembles the Hofzinser Card Problem, featuring a face-to-face switch by Bill Simon and a progressive choice principle inspired by Annemann. 4 – PLAY: Utilizing the Gilbreath principle, this effect creates a mind-reading illusion, allowing for apparent freedom among spectators, though it can be performed with just one helper. ADVANCE NOTICE: This two-card prediction effect was inspired by a card location from Jack Yates’ Best of Pentagram Card Magic (Breese Books). THE CURATORS: A simpler handling of ‘Guardian Angels’ from my book Applications (Breese Books), requiring only one card to be remembered, inspired by Elmsley’s ‘Diamond Cut Diamond’ from Genii. A TRICK TO BORE THE A!*! OFF PEOPLE WITH: This trick, while possibly interesting, uses simple arithmetic and may not see much practical use. THE DISORIENTED SEVENS: The lucky Sevens culminate in a Royal Flush. |
