Experience the Astonishing Fumanchu Phantom Bag Mystery

This captivating effect invites a spectator to inspect a unique cloth bag, meticulously crafted from a single piece of fabric with seams securely sewn on both sides. The performer borrows a jacket or uses a prop, stepping inside the bag for an unforgettable experience. (While you can involve an assistant, I always preferred to be the one inside.)

The bag is cinched at the top, secured with a wide piece of cloth. A spectator holds the top, ensuring it remains visible as a tube curtain is raised around the performer inside the bag. The top of the bag is consistently in view, draping over the front edge.

With a quick three-count, the bottom of the bag suddenly flies over the curtain! In that instant, the curtain drops, revealing the performer standing outside the bag, having seemingly vanished from within. This stunning illusion was my grand finale for years and is featured in the Tarbell Course as the Fumanchu Phantom Bag Mystery, famously performed by Doug Henning.
