Effect: The magician presents a thoroughly shuffled deck, removing the two Jokers. He hands the deck to a spectator, allowing them to cut it as many times as they wish. The spectator is instructed to stop cutting whenever they choose, and the top card will be their selection. While the magician looks away, the spectator examines the top card, places it back into the deck at their chosen location, and squares the deck. After this, the magician takes the deck, performs a single cut, and sets it face down on the table. The selection process is entirely free, with no forces involved.

The magician emphasizes that he will not touch the deck again. He reminds the spectator that they have freely selected and returned a card without any interference. The magician claims to have cut the deck in a way that allows the spectator to spell out their card. For instance, if the selected card is the Ace of Spades, the spectator will spell A-C-E O-F S-P-A-D-E-S, turning one card face up from the top of the deck and placing it into a face-up pile. Upon completing the spelling, the spectator will be amazed to find their card on top of the deck.

This effect is remarkably hands-off. The spectator handles the deck entirely, while the magician looks away during the card’s return, ensuring he has no knowledge of its position. After cutting the deck, the magician does not view any card faces and only learns the name of the selected card when the spectator reveals it. The spectator deals the cards face up, spelling out the full name of their card each time, including the word “of” and ensuring the suit ends with an “s.”
