Who Is He?
David Ben, educated at the University of Toronto (BA), University of Western Ontario (LLB), and London School of Economics (LLM), transitioned from tax law to pursue his passion for magic and performance. As the sole protégé of legendary sleight-of-hand artist Ross Bertram, David has dazzled audiences across the U.S., Canada, England, and Japan for over four decades.
He co-wrote, performed, and produced acclaimed shows such as The Conjuror and Natural Magick, and has made numerous television appearances, including an award-winning documentary titled “A Conjuror in the Making.”
David is also a published author of six books, including Advantage Play and Dai Vernon: A Biography, and has contributed articles to various magic journals.
As the co-founder and Artistic Director of Magicana, David promotes magic as an art form and has initiated programs like My Magic Hands and Senior Sorcery to engage underprivileged children and isolated seniors.
In addition to performing, David is a sought-after keynote speaker on creativity and innovation, presenting at prestigious events like The Walrus Talks and the Smithsonian.
