Some concepts in this ebook are still mistakenly claimed as original by others. As the saying goes, “History is best ignored at your own peril.” Here’s a brief overview of the true origins of Elastic Thread, well-documented in print.

Michael Weber was the first magician to document an elastic thread routine, featuring a matchbox effect with the revolutionary magic-fibre in Genii Magazine. He credits his mother for introducing him to this special thread.

In parallel, around 1985, Finn Jon from Norway significantly advanced the use of elastic thread in magic. He innovated the Elastic Loop, a special application of elastic thread technology that resolved the common issue of managing ends.

Ben acquired a set of Elastic Loops while attending a convention in Bordeaux, France, in 1986. He was astounded by how a thread so fine could stretch so extensively. This experience sparked a flurry of ideas, leading him to refine and perform elastic thread magic from 1986 to 1989. This journey culminated in the creation of the original Premier Elastic Thread, the first-ever supply of BULK Elastic Thread in ’87, and the publication of this booklet, Premier Elastic Thread and Routines, in ’89.
