Effects: This DVD is a treasure trove of 15 remarkable effects utilizing a dry erase marker and glass. With the exception of one, all effects are practical and can be examined by the audience. Rating: 10/10
Now, let’s explore some of the standout effects!
Stained Glass: My personal favorite! The performer shares a story about wanting to be a scientist but choosing magic instead, drawing a clever parallel between the two. He writes “ATOM” on the glass and asks a spectator to name a letter (no forcing involved). The chosen letter visibly pushes through to the other side of the glass, which the spectator can verify. This process repeats with another letter, leaving only the unchosen letters visible. For the grand finale, the performer draws a dot (representing an atom) and makes it travel to the opposite side of the glass, then back again. A true workhorse of an effect!
Passing Thru: While this is the only impractical effect on the DVD, it has the potential to create a lasting impression. The performer has a spectator write their initials on a large piece of glass. He then holds a jacket in front of the initials, claiming he will make them disappear. When he lowers the jacket, nothing seems to have changed. The spectator tries to wipe their initials off with a napkin, only to find they can’t until they check the other side of the glass! Adam also provides an alternative presentation for this effect.
Stained Coin: The performer displays both sides of a piece of glass and draws a dot resembling a coin. When the ink is wiped away, a real coin appears, pulled from the glass. Adam offers an alternate presentation for this effect as well.
Dots Be Gone: The performer draws a dot in each corner of the glass and makes them vanish one by one. For the final dot, it can even reappear in any corner named by the spectator.
Sudden Change: After a spectator selects a card, the performer reveals a prediction under the card case. Initially, it appears to be incorrect, but with a touch of magic, the spectator’s card transforms into the predicted card. Even more astonishing, the glass now displays the original card! A fantastic twist!
Stained Prediction: In this card effect, the spectator shuffles the deck and deals cards into two piles. They choose one card, which is then revealed to be written on a piece of glass the performer has kept in his pocket. Adam provides two different presentations for this effect.
The Glide Change: Another card effect! The spectator selects a card, and the performer shows a piece of glass beneath the card case, seemingly containing all cards. After a comedic moment, the performer covers the glass with the selected card. When the card is lifted, only the selected card remains visible, leaving the audience wondering where the others went!
