The Effect: The magician hands over his house key to a spectator while keeping the rest of his keys. He then makes the house key disappear, only for it to reappear on the spectator’s key ring. This effect features a clean vanish with no sleight of hand involved. Don’t miss the demo! This was a standout moment for Jeff on Underground Jam, showcasing a vanish inspired by Richard Ross that has captivated many magicians.
Fun Side Note by Jeff: This effect originated from a dream I had. I needed five solid effects for my audition for Sankey’s Underground Jam, but the night before, I only had four. In my dream, I envisioned a unique method for vanishing a key. The next morning, I gathered the necessary supplies and successfully recreated my dream. The final method presented on Underground Jam is much cleaner than the original concept from my dream. The name “Key-Oh-Nee Buh-Lo-Nee” is a playful phonetic twist on “Keone Baloney,” named after my friend Rob Keone, who filmed my audition and helped refine the routine.
“I find that Jeff Stone is my favorite contributor. He has great ideas, including a novel key routine with a killer vanish. His use of the film cannister really got me thinking, and it’s the thought-provoking ideas that make DVDs worthwhile to me, the sort of thinking that has you digging up props because an idea (or several) just occurred to you.” – Darrin C.
