Knockout Tossed Out Deck by Devin Knight

The magician presents a deck of cards from its case, displaying a shuffled assortment. After removing the two jokers, he secures the deck with a rubber band in the center. He demonstrates how audience members can peek at their cards while the band is in place.

Key Feature: Unlike traditional tossed out decks, the Knockout Deck prevents accidental exposure. If a participant accidentally lets a few cards slip, the method remains intact!

Participants are invited to think of their cards while the performer claims he can read only the thoughts of the five chosen individuals, despite distractions from the audience.

He predicts that two of the standing volunteers will have chosen the same card, creating a remarkable coincidence.

Unique Twist:

In this routine, participants are instructed to sit down when they hear their card called!

Ending Variations:

1. As the performer names the cards, participants begin to sit. Two sit simultaneously, confirming the performer’s prediction. Eventually, only one participant remains. The performer states, “Think of your card; it’s the Ten of Diamonds,” prompting that participant to sit as well.
2. As cards are called, only two participants remain standing. The performer reveals, “I suspected two of you were thinking of the same card. I believe you both chose the Two of Diamonds.” They agree and sit down.

NO AUDIENCE MANAGEMENT ISSUES: With the Knockout Deck, spectators can handle the deck however they wish. They can peek at cards face up or face down, and if they accidentally riffle a few cards, it won’t affect the outcome. This deck minimizes concerns about post-show discussions. While it’s rare for spectators to compare notes, if they do, they’ll find that two of them thought of the same card while others chose differently.
