I occasionally receive advance copies of effects, books, or new products from my friends at Penguin Magic, asking for a brief, impactful quote if I find something appealing.

Such was the case with “Letters From Juan,” a series of small booklets showcasing the work of maestro Juan Tamariz in a friendly, informal style, blending personal reflections with his ingenious effects and methods, all delivered with his signature warmth and humor.

However, how can I provide an unbiased review when Juan is not only a dear friend but also a guiding light in my own magical journey?

I am fortunate to spend many weeks each year with Juan in Spain, where I am continually amazed by the passion and creativity surrounding magic. Over the past thirty years, I have learned many effects from these booklets and performed them countless times.
