Photos hold untold stories, capturing moments that evoke hidden emotions, much like a familiar scent can transport you back in time. “Lifesigns” is an extraordinary magic trick that allows you, the performer, to guide a spectator in uncovering secrets within a photograph.

In this effect, you introduce a deck of 52 cards, each inscribed with a name. These cards are freely examined and shuffled by the audience. Alongside them, you present a mysterious photo of an elderly man, taken around 1940, without any clues about his identity. The spectator gazes into the man’s eyes and, when ready, randomly inserts the photo into the stack of names.

As the names are spread out, the photo is revealed to have a signature on its back—it’s the name of the man in the picture: Shaun Mason. When the two cards adjacent to the photo are turned over, one reveals “SHAUN” and the other “MASON.” Was it mere coincidence, or was there a deeper connection at play?
